What we do with your data, who can see it, and what we'll never do.
Security
- Your files are encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Auto-deleted after 90 days. You can delete anytime. Your account, your call.
- Downloads use short-lived signed URLs (24 hours). The storage buckets are private. Nobody can guess your file path.
- Files always read from our curated blank USCIS template, never from your upload, so a corrupted or malicious upload can't poison your final form.
Privacy
- We never share your data with marketers, brokers, or list-sellers.
- Analytics events are PII-scrubbed: no emails, no names, no answer text in event logs.
- Audit logs hash IP addresses with a rotating salt. They record what happened, not who you are.
Not a law firm
- Fillsmith is a scrivener service. We help you put your information onto government forms in your own words. We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice.
- We never tell you which form to file, whether you qualify, or what immigration outcome to expect. Only a licensed lawyer can do that.
- We do not file forms with USCIS. You print, sign by hand, and mail the completed form yourself.
Who can see your data
- You, always.
- Our certifiers, only for translations they're working on. Restricted by role.
- Our reviewers, only for form jobs they've been assigned. Restricted by role.
- Our admins, when investigating a support issue you've raised. Every admin access is logged.
A note about notarios
A “notario público” in the U.S. is not a lawyer. If someone calls themselves a notario and charges hundreds or thousands of dollars for help with immigration paperwork, they may be breaking state law in California, Illinois, New York, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, or Minnesota. We built Fillsmith to be an honest alternative — clear pricing, in your language, with you in control.
